Meet our people

The Board of Central Trust PLC provides oversight of the business. The Board comprises the Executive Chairman and Executive and Non-Executive Directors.

Andrew Turner

Executive Chairman

Before Andrew started Central Trust in 1988, he was Managing Director at the UK subsidiary of a Canadian mortgage lender, a Management Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and a Management Accountant at Ford.

As well as receiving awards from prestigious publications such as Business Week and The Independent, Andrew has also been in Management Today’s list of Britain's Top 100 entrepreneurs on four occasions. He was also the Ernst & Young Overall Central Region Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003.

Andrew is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant. He also holds an MBA from City Business School.

Sharon Turner

Non-Executive Director

Sharon Turner joined Central Trust in April 1998. From April 1998 to October 2004 Sharon jointly ran the Group with Andrew Turner. Appointed to the Board in 1999, since October 2004 Sharon has been a Non-Executive Director, with a particular focus on finance.

Before joining Central Trust, Sharon worked for Barclays, as Finance Director for Canada Permanent and as an Investment Director at Deutsche Bank.

Sharon is a Chartered Management Accountant.

Charles Rowett

Group Director

Charles Rowett began working with Central Trust in April 2006 after five years of running his own management consulting business.

Prior to that Charles held a number of executive positions in manufacturing and logistics industries.

Charles is responsible for our Mortgage Broking business and for Group HR services.

He is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has a BSc in Managerial Sciences and a MBA.

Chris Jones

Non-Executive Director

Chris was appointed in 2008 and has over 20 years experience in the marketing services industry. He was the Worldwide CEO of J. Walter Thompson for five years.

Among his wide range of business and not-for-profit interests, Chris is Operating Partner and Chairman of the Allocations Committee of the private equity firm, Cognetas LLP (formerly Electra Partners Europe). Chris is also on the board of a number of companies within Cognetas' portfolio.

Non-Executive Directorships held by Chris include De Beers Diamond Jewellers Limited and Results Business Consulting Limited. Chris is also a Governor of St Edward’s School and the Dragon School in Oxford, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and of the Board of the Oxford Literary Festival.

An MA Cantab, Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and is an FRSA.

Matt Symonds

Non-Executive Director

Appointed in 2008, Matt Symonds is a partner in Bain & Company’s UK Financial Services Practice and has over ten years experience in the financial services industry. Matt’s focus is on consumer finance, wealth management, asset management, credit cards, investment banking and retail banking.

Matt joined Bain from Marakon Associates in London, where he worked for nine years – two of them as a partner and office leader.

Matt holds an MA in English Literature from Oxford University and an MBA from INSEAD.

Robert Udy

Director, New Ventures

Robert Udy joined Central Trust in April 2008 from Capital One, where Robert worked for eight years latterly as Head of Operations for Card Platform.

Previous to that Robert was with Coca Cola Enterprises for 5 years, in sales and manufacturing roles.

Robert has an MBA from Reading University.

Jonathan Painter

Group Finance Director

Jonathan Painter joined Central Trust in April 2008 after three years as Head of Risk and Analytics for Marks & Spencer. Previously, he worked within a number of business units for HBOS plc, holding various senior finance positions.

Jonathan, an Associate Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), also holds a degree in Industrial Mathematics.

The Board allocates day-to-day accountability for the running of the business to the Executive Chairman, supported by a Senior Management Team comprising Business Unit and Functional Directors
